Skateboarding and Olympic Games
SKATEBOARDING is a medal event at Olympic Games (Tokyo 2021 & Paris 2024). With over 3000+ skateparks in the USA itself, there are roughly 11.8 million active skateboarders which makes skateboarding one of the most popular sports in the world.
The street fromat winner in women’s category, Momiji Nishiya (Japan) was just 16 years old, Rayssa Leal 13 (Brazil) won silver and Funa Nakayama 17 (Japan) won bronze. In the Men’s street category Yuto Horigome (Japan) won gold, Kelvin Hoefler (Brazil) won silver and, Jagger Eaton (USA) won bronze.
In the Park format, men’s category Keegan Palmer (Australia) won gold, Pedro BArrs (Brazil) won silver and Cory Juneau (USA) won bronze. While in womens’s category Sakura Yosozumi (Japan) won gold, Kokona Hiraki (Japan) won silver and Sky Brown (UK) won bronze.
World Skate announced 80 skateboarders that have qualified for the rearranged Olympics in Tokyo, the sport made debut in the Games. Below are the first Skateboarding Olympians in the history of skatekind!
We have consolidated the information of the inclusion of this sport in the Olympic program. The rules and regulations for a proper contest and championship are being formulated and approved by International Olympic Committee and World Skate. In India, Skateboarding is governed by the Roller Skating Federation Of India (RSFI).

Tokyo will be hosting the debut of skateboarding in the Olympic Games, but the pandemic has pushed the revelry to 2021. The qualifiers are being carried out in early and mid 2019 by Street League Skateboarding in various cities of the world. Paris is going to be the host for Olympic Games in 2024.
“Creating a creative and innovative Olympic Games experience that benefits everyone is at the core of Paris 2024’s mission,” said IOC Coordination Commission Chair Pierre-Olivier Beckers-Vieujant. Neverthless, we are waiting for the day when a skateboarding Olympic qualifier is scheduled in Indian Subcontinent and perhaps the day when Olympics will be held in INDIA.
